Therapeutic Psychotherapy & Counselling Services
At Beaconbridge Psychotherapy & Counselling Services, we offer a comprehensive range of therapeutic services designed to support your mental health and well-being.
Stress & Anxiety Management
Stress and anxiety are common but can become overwhelming when they start interfering with daily life. You may feel constantly tense, have difficulty sleeping, struggle to concentrate, or experience racing thoughts and panic. Over time, chronic stress can affect your mental and physical well-being.
Our approach helps you understand the root causes of your anxiety or stress, whether it’s due to work pressures, personal relationships, trauma, or life changes. We use evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and relaxation strategies to reduce symptoms and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
Whether you’re dealing with generalised anxiety, panic attacks, or situational stress, we provide a safe, compassionate space where your experience is respected and understood. Our goal is not to eliminate all stress but to help you respond to it with more confidence, calm, and clarity.
Mood Disorders
Mood disorders can profoundly affect your emotional, physical, and social well-being. You may feel persistently low, hopeless, fatigued, or emotionally numb. These conditions can interfere with relationships, work, sleep, and your ability to enjoy life.
Our therapy provides compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to your unique experience. Together, we explore emotional patterns, identify contributing factors, and develop strategies for managing symptoms. Using therapies such as CBT and behavioural activation, we focus on interrupting negative thought cycles, re-establishing daily structure, and building motivation.
Mood disorders are complex and often isolating, but they are treatable. With time and support, it is possible to find relief, rediscover joy, and regain a sense of purpose and balance.
Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder is marked by intense emotions, unstable relationships, a shifting sense of self, and impulsive behaviours. You may struggle with fear of abandonment, emotional outbursts, self-harming behaviour, or chronic feelings of emptiness and loneliness. These experiences can feel overwhelming and isolating.
Therapy for BPD offers structured, compassionate support focused on helping you better understand and regulate your emotions. We often use Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), a specialised approach proven effective for managing the challenges of BPD. Therapy focuses on improving distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.
In a safe and non-judgemental environment, we’ll work to identify your emotional triggers and build healthier ways of coping and relating to others. Over time, therapy can support you in forming more stable relationships, reducing impulsive behaviours, and developing a stronger, more consistent sense of identity.
Addiction Counselling
Addiction affects not only your health but also relationships, work, and self-esteem. Whether it involves substances, gambling, or compulsive behaviours, addiction often serves as a way to escape or cope with deeper emotional pain. Over time, it can lead to isolation, shame, and a sense of being out of control.
Our approach to addiction counselling is compassionate and non-judgemental. We recognise that addiction is not a sign of weakness, but a complex condition influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. Therapy focuses on understanding what drives the behaviour, increasing awareness, and creating healthier coping strategies.
Therapy provides support in rebuilding relationships, managing triggers, and finding a renewed sense of purpose and self-worth.
Grief & Loss Counselling
Grief is a natural but deeply personal response to loss. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, experienced a major life change, or are grieving something intangible like identity or future hopes, the emotional impact can feel overwhelming. Sadness, anger, confusion, or numbness may come in waves and at unexpected times.
Grief counselling offers a safe space to explore these feelings at your own pace. There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline for healing. Our approach respects your unique experience and supports you in processing your emotions, adjusting to life after loss, and finding meaning as you move forward.
We may explore your relationship with the person or situation you lost, help you manage triggers or anniversaries, and gently guide you through the ongoing changes grief brings. You don’t need to carry grief alone. With support, it’s possible to honour what was lost while reconnecting with life in a way that feels meaningful and authentic.
Suicidial Ideation / Self-harm
If you’re experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, it can feel isolating, frightening, or confusing. These thoughts are often signs of deep emotional pain—not weakness or attention-seeking—and they deserve to be heard with care and without judgement.
Therapy provides a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about what you’re feeling. Together, we work to understand the emotional distress driving these thoughts and develop healthier ways to cope. Our approach focuses on safety planning, emotional regulation, and building hope, using tools from therapies such as DBT and compassion-focused therapy.
With support, things can improve, and life can become more manageable again.
If you are experiencing an emergency or are at immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, please call 000 immediately.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is characterised by shifts between depressive and manic or hypomanic episodes. These mood changes can be disruptive—affecting energy levels, judgment, sleep, relationships, and day-to-day functioning. The unpredictability can feel destabilising and difficult to manage without support.
Our therapy helps you better understand your emotional cycles and identify early warning signs of mood shifts. We focus on building stability through routine, emotional awareness, and structured strategies for managing both high and low periods. Psychoeducation, mood tracking, CBT, and interpersonal strategies are often part of the therapeutic process.
Therapy also explores the social and emotional effects of living with bipolar disorder, such as strained relationships, impulsive decisions, or stigma. We work together to strengthen your coping skills, improve self-management, and support your overall well-being.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
OCD involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) that create distress, followed by repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) aimed at reducing that anxiety. These cycles can become time-consuming, exhausting, and significantly interfere with daily life.
Compulsive behaviours—such as checking, cleaning, counting, or seeking reassurance—may bring temporary relief but often reinforce the anxiety over time.
Our therapy uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the most effective treatment for OCD. ERP involves gradually facing fears without engaging in compulsions, helping you learn that anxiety can decrease without the need for rituals. We also focus on building tolerance for uncertainty and reducing the shame often associated with OCD.
Therapy is tailored to your pace and needs. We work collaboratively to create a plan that helps you feel supported, safe, and in control.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that influences how individuals experience the world, communicate, and relate to others. Every autistic person is different, with unique strengths, interests, and support needs. Therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about supporting you to live well as you are.
Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, which means we respect and celebrate neurological differences. Therapy may focus on emotional regulation, managing overwhelm, understanding social cues, or processing life transitions. Sessions are adapted to your communication style, sensory preferences, and goals.
We also support late-diagnosed or self-identifying autistic adults exploring self-understanding, identity, or past experiences. Families and caregivers may benefit from guidance in building more supportive and empathetic relationships.
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD affects attention, focus, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. It can lead to disorganisation, forgetfulness, restlessness, or impulsivity that impacts school, work, and relationships. Many people with ADHD also struggle with low self-esteem due to feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed.
Our therapy provides practical, supportive strategies for managing ADHD across different areas of life. Sessions may focus on building routines, improving time management, setting goals, and understanding your unique attention patterns. We also work on emotional regulation and self-compassion—essential for coping with frustration and negative self-talk.
Therapy is tailored to your strengths and challenges. We may include elements of CBT, coaching techniques, and mindfulness to build sustainable habits and boost confidence. If you’re a parent of a child with ADHD, we can help you understand their needs and foster a more supportive environment at home.
Couples therapy
All relationships face challenges—from communication breakdowns and conflict to intimacy issues or the stress of major life transitions. Over time, unresolved tension can lead to emotional distance, resentment, or loss of trust.
Couples therapy provides a safe, neutral space to explore these difficulties and strengthen your connection. We work with you both to identify unhelpful patterns, improve communication, and rebuild trust and closeness.
Whether you’re navigating a crisis or simply feeling stuck, therapy can help you reconnect with shared values, express your needs more clearly, and better understand each other’s emotional worlds.
The goal isn’t just conflict resolution—it’s emotional reconnection. With openness and support, your relationship can become a stronger, more fulfilling partnership that grows through challenges, not in spite of them.
What to expect from your session
Whether in-person or virtual, all our sessions and services are conducted in a confidential, safe, and nonjudgmental environment, and our clients are encouraged to share openly. Each therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your concerns, identify patterns, and develop coping strategies. We also design a personal treatment plan, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, trauma-focused therapy, or other evidence-based methods. We will regularly assess your progress, adjust your treatment plan and provide support throughout your therapy process.
You can book private sessions, GP referrals, including Medicare, NDIS self-managed and planned managed referrals, or victim service referrals in a personalised treatment plan
